Shantaylah Lodge Equestrian Centre is owned and operated by Karen Morris at the beautiful location of Greenbank QLD.

Karen started her riding career as a 6 year old. She had very little chance of escaping the riding bug. With her father Terry winning his Rider classes at Sydney Royal, her brother Wayne rarely beaten in his Rider classes from country shows through to Royals and brother Paul taking over the mantle from Wayne and going through to reserve Champion Rider at Brisbane Royal .

Karen having a big challenge to live up to, she went on her winning way with her first pony Little Duel a 13h black pony with many wins at Sydney and Brisbane Royals and rarely beaten at country shows.

After Little Duel retired Karen went onto a Galloway “Lucida” for many wins before graduating to her first hack “West End”. Stubby (West End) gave her the first experience in riding a fiery ex. race horse and after battling his mischievous temperament he proved to be successful in both Hack and Side Saddle classes at Royal Shows.

Karen moved on to other horses including “Prime Time", "Current Affair” and the mighty “Calais Royale”, possibly one of Australia’s best known Thoroughbred Mares. Karen rode “Calais Royale” to wins in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane Royals. Among her wins at these Royal Shows on “Calais Royale” were a minor place in the Garryowen and 1st Hack over 16.2 at Melbourne Royal; 1st Side Saddle Hack at Sydney Royal; 1st Lady Rider, 1st Thoroughbred Mare, Champion Lady Rider and Supreme Champion Thoroughbred at Brisbane Royal.

After Brisbane Royal Karen decided it was a good time for "Calais Royale" to retire to the breeding paddock. With wins in all the Eastern States and little left to prove the timing was right for this decision.

Karen was promoted in her job to a position in Hobart where she took "Prime Time" with her. Karen enjoyed her time in Tasmania, but the call to return to Queensland was too great and she came back after 2 years. Karen's Dad thought she would return to riding in Queensland however she found the love of her life Derek .

Derek and Karen were married for a couple of years before the arrival of their first daughter, Shantay ........ and what does every little girl want “a pony”. What did Shantay get?? A Show Pony of course. Karen now not wanting to return to her profession in Retail decided that working with Horses would be a logical next step. Using her long learned expertise in Horse knowledge and the Horse world she started a new venture establishing 'Shantaylah Lodge Equestrian Centre'.

'Shantaylah Lodge Equestrian Centre' has been developed into two very successful sections. Karen uses her wisdom and knowledge to Instruct and Train students at all levels in her riding school while also operating a very successful Show Team. While Shantaylah Lodge has only been operating a few short years it has become a force to be reckoned with as nearly all of the horses in the Show Team have come from being unknown babies to making very noticeable inroads in the winner circles at Royals and Horse of the Year Shows. Shantay herself being named rider of the year at only 6 years old. Shantays first pony “Barbie” is a winner of to many Broad Sashes to mention .

Karen has a remarkable capacity to work and to get pupils to achieve their ultimate goals. While she has been developing Shantaylah Lodge she has found time to have her second daughter “Shilah” who is already bitten with the horse bug and is riding very well under the guidence of her mum.
